Already On The Way

November 14, 2009

Before I do my weekly show reviewing my blogs & some of the criticisms (particularly about my moves concerning the SF Giants) I wanted to write about the Miami Heat who I believe are already proving there on the rise. Look they only have two players under contract after this yr (Chalmers & Beasley). This will give them a great oppurtunity to sign key FA. I don’t want to hear about D Wade leaving MIA Pat Riley will never allow that; why would he leave??

  • $$ he’s going to get his no matter where he plays..
  • His team is in great financial shape this coming off-season
  • Their already competitive this yr!!! with all these players on one yr deals
  • They might make a trade to bring in someone at the trade deadline
  • Carlos Boozer?? If the Jazz continue to struggle… He has already said he likes MIA/Riley likes him

MIA already has some key pieces in place

PG Chalmers (Underrated/great young player)

SG Dwayne Wade (enough said)

SF Q Rich (I’ve always liked his game/ I know he has struggled  as of late but he’ll be fine)

PF Beasley (Every time I’ve watched him play this yr he seems to get better & better

C/F Haslem… (I love this guy’s game/ character MIA would be dumb to let him go)

G Cook (he is hurt at the moment but he will be back)

HC I like what he is about!!

The Heat will allow these pieces to continue to grow into a cohesive group & be a potential powerhouse in the coming years.

I’m not saying there is no way the Heat will let Q Rich or Cook go all I’m saying is they already have the 3PT threat/a  guy who can do it all when his game is right in Q Rich already in place.

That’s why I believe the Heat are on the rise & already are

SF Giants Off-Season 09

November 11, 2009

Let me start off by saying the Giants are well on their way to being a serious contender in Baseball once again

I recently looked at all available Free Agents this off-season & have created my shopping list for the Giants

Team Needs

  • Big Bat!! (obviously)

Bay or Jermaine Dye

Dye Age 35-36

I know his age is up there however give him a short 2yr maybe 3 at the most 6-8 Million a yr

Would be a good signing for the Giants… he hit 27 HR 81 RBI he was hurt last yr but this is a very good player

How I would negotiate with him

Baseball negotiations are tricky if JD wants 8 M a yr that’s fine make him take the 2yr contact if he wants the 3yr deal give him the 6 M option

2yr 8= 16 / 3yr 6=18

Jason Bay

He will obviously set the Market for OF this off-season some say Matt Holiday will; I don’t see it Bay in my opinion is by far the better player

36 HR 119 RBI

He just turned 31… one of the reason’s I like Jason better than Matt is he seems to be the more professional/polished hitter he can hit in any ballpark. He doesn’t go out and try to hit HR all the time he lets the HR come to him…

The rumor is he will ask for 4yr 60M

I wouldn’t have a problem giving that to him the guy is a stud and as I previously stated the guy can hit anywhere.

4 yrs 15M

Don’t forget that the Giants have a new owner, I guarantee you he wants to send a message to the fans/competition

The Giants need a bridge to Posey to let him grow he is not ready

Jason Kendall/ Pudge

I don’t see the Giants giving Molina more than a 2 yr deal & they shouldn’t… The rumor is The Mets want him fine that won’t make them a WS contender they have a ton of problems

Singing Pudge/Kendall would be a perfect fit; look were not asking them to be big offensive contributes (although it would be nice) we want them to give us the professional AB, teach Posey how to call games/ run a pitching staff

I would give either one of those guys 2yrs 10-12M which is what the Giants are offering Molina anyway maybe give them a little less depending on the market

I believe Molina is by far the better player I just wouldn’t give him the 3rd yr he is looking for Posey should be ready in 2yrs.

The Giants need a guy who can play anywhere

Harriston JR or Derosa….. Grab Nady as a fall back if they don’t get Bay or JD

I know Derosa was hurt last yr but when healthy this guy can play well and play anywhere the same can be said about Harriston JR…

These 3 are gap to gap hitters which is what the Giants Park is… getting one of these guys would be a nice fit

give them 2-3yr deals 4 to 5 guaranteed with some incentives to boost the total contract amount

Don’t let Penny go anywhere!!!!! he belongs in the NL and he thrived with Giants

Look when right this guy is a stud/innings eating with some swagger the Giants would be stupid to let him go…. he is only 30-31

once again 2 or 3 yr deal 5 -6M…. Pettitte is prolly going to get that type of deal last yr he got 1yr 5…. so that’s a legit range

A part of me thinks the Giants should buy out Edgar Renteria and sign Jack Wilson. Plus remember the Giants already have Freddie Sanchez Jacks former DP Partner. Jack is once
again a professional hitter who goes gap to gap.

Projected Roster

C Kendall/ Pudge

1B Panda

2nd Sanchez

SS Jack/Renteria

3rd Derosa/ if they don’t sign him and get JR expect (Panda 3rd 1B Garko don’t hate on Garko yet)

OF Nate S/Velez

OF Rowand

OF Bay/Dye

SP Cain

SP Zito

SP Sanchez

SP Penny

The main Bullpen is already set go out an get some guys who can eat innings

There you have it if the Giants want to be serious contender’s next yr make those moves

November 11, 2009

Let me start out by saying that I love what Rod Thorne has done in his tenure as Nets GM.

Yes the Nets are 0-7 you have to get beyond the record; read between the lines/see the big picture

Lets go back a bit and see why I love the nets rebuilding process

1. The Nets realized and weren’t afraid to say there window had closed.

2. They began to make financial/basketball moves at the same time

when you can take care of your team’s financial wealth while getting basketball talent in return it is a wonderful thing.

That is what the Nets did when they traded J Kidd to Dallas for Devin Harris

They obtained a young All Star point guard in the making/financial health while getting rid of J Kidd who wanted to move on anyway/was getting up there in age

I also liked the trade of R J to Milwaukee mostly a financial move however Yi’ J’ Reps had said all along they wanted him to play in a big market…. Once again the Nets gained financial wealth and a top 10 draft choice in Yi

I really enjoyed The Transaction of C Lee From ORL for VC not because I don’t not like VC but I like C Lee that much better. I understand why ORL made the move; I still would have kept C Lee.

This transaction for the nets again covered the teams financial wealth/ while still getting basketball talent in return

That part of the blog covered the nets dealings of their former big 3

IN / Leaving

D Harris J Kidd

Yi          RJ

C Lee       VC

Saved a boat load of $$$$ for this yrs F A Class

along with other pieces that were $$$ related

Draft Choices

C Brook Lopez

Lets keep this short & sweet the man is a beast

I don’t know how he dropped all the way down in the 2nd RD but he did kind of like Blair from Pitt this last yr it just boggled my mind.

I mean maybe CDR didn’t impress at his workouts but I thought CDR was getting a job as a BBall player not a trainer IDK maybe it’s just me but the nets struck gold with those 2 picks

I just looked up the roster; Here is who I have staying after this yr

D Harris

Brook Lopez

Terrence Williams (Rookie this Yr)

C Lee

Jarvis Hays?? (I believe they signed him to a FA contract) It may have been a short one though so he may be gone

So that’s 7 players coming back 6 for sure out of a possible 15 with a ton of $$ to spend plus a new home in B here soon

Potential Line up with that 7

SF?? (I’ll get to that)

SG Lee

PG Harris

BN Hays

BN Williams

What I see happening with FA in 10

I truly see LBJ coming to the Nets for all the right reasons… I think this is to good of a deal to pass

  • his best friend Jay Z is part owner
  • the new owner of the Nets is a $$$$$ machine
  • New Arena/ All the talent they already have in Place
  • Remember LBJ makes everyone better (Obviously) which I believe will help Yi more than anyone of their young studs
  • Even if LBJ stays in CLE (he is not going to NYK so stop) They will still land coveted FA that will take them to the next level

That is why the Nets have BRIGHT FUTURE
